Research with attitude

Conduct your research with the attitude of a skeptic. As you examine websites for clues that they’re trustworthy, ask these questions:

·       Who wrote the web page? If you can’t identify the individual or organization responsible for the information, don’t use it.

·       What are the author’s qualifications for writing on the subject?

·       Has the article passed through an editorial process designed to ensure quality and accuracy?

·       What is the website’s purpose? Look for motives ------like selling products or winning votes—that could result in biased or incomplete information.

·       Is the information accurate? Is it up-to-date?

·       Where did the author get this information?

THANKS TO THE WEB, INFORMATION IS EASY TO FIND. HOWEVER, IT’S ALSO EASY TO POST SOMETHING ONLINE. ANYONE CAN DO IT. YOU’VE PROBABLY USED THE INTERNET TO DO RESEARCH FOR A PAPER, TO HELP YOU DECIDE WHICH PRODUCT TO BUY, OR TO FORM AN OPINION ABOUT CURRENT EVENTS. LOOKING UP INFORMATION ONLINE IS FAST AND CONVENIENT. BUT WHEN YOU DO ONLINE RESEARCH, IT’S IMPORTANT TO FIND SITES YOU CAN TRUST. MANY WEBSITE CLAIM TO HAVE THE FACTS, BUT ARE FULL OF ERRORS. OTHERS PRESENT INFORMATION IN A BIASED WAY-----THEY ONLY GIVE ONE SIDE OF AN ARGUMENT. HOW CAN YOU TELL A RELIABLE SOURCE FROM AN UNRELIABLE ONE? Also, it is critical that you post online only that which is descent and appropriate, never anything pornographic, vulgar, indecent, out of taste, untruthful, or obscene. Post those things that will make a good name for you and your organization, that will promote goodwill and be of benefit to the world.

I think this means when you miss and how you shoot it all depends on you because your shooting it to see how good you are and correct your mistakes that you could success heating the target.

At the end of each section, look up from the text and in your own words recite an answer to your questions for that section. Then write down your answer. Be sure to provide examples that support it. Now repeat the questions, read and recite steps for each section of the chapter. First ask a question for the next section. Then read to find the answer. Finally, recite the answer in your own words and jot it down. The written questions and answers can help you study in the future.

review

After completing the chapter, review your notes. Identify the main points by looking for the most important idea in each section. Recite, or write, a brief summary of the assignment. Review your study notes every week to help you remember the information. When it’s time to prepare for your tests, you’ll find you’ve created an invaluable study guide.

Questions

as you survey the text, ask what, why, how, when, who and where questions are they relate to the content. Here’s how you can create questions.

·       Turn the title, heading or subheading into questions.

·       Rewrite the questions at the end of the chapter or after each subheading in your own words.

·       Write down your questions help you pay attention, understand the text letter and recall the information more easily letter on.

Read

Read one section of the chapter at the time, actively looking for an answer to your questions for that section. Pay attention to bold and italicized text that authors use to make important points.

Be sure to review everything in the section, including tables, graphs and illustrations----these features can communicate an idea more powerfully than written text.
